Use & safety instructions
Read this guidance before using The Closeness Hoodie with a baby. These are general precautions, not a substitute for the manufacturer's fitting instructions for your exact model.
Do not assume the hoodie, front panel or zip can support a baby's weight. Do not place a baby in the front section until the intended use, support system and suitability for your child have been confirmed. A photograph or an adult clothing size does not establish a safe carrying position.
1. Before every use
- Check the manufacturer's model-specific instructions, including the required support or separate carrier, permitted positions, and the child's weight, height and developmental requirements. Do not guess these limits.
- Inspect the fabric, seams, zip and any support components for damage, loose stitching or wear. Stop using the garment if anything is damaged or does not close correctly.
- Do not use the front section to carry a newborn. For a baby born prematurely, with low birth weight or with breathing or other health concerns, seek advice from a pediatrician before using any carrier.
2. Keep the airway clear
If the correct support and suitability have been confirmed, follow the manufacturer's fitting instructions and check your baby frequently:
- Keep the whole face visible. Keep the nose and mouth clear of fabric and your body.
- Keep the chin away from the chest. Prevent the baby from slumping or curling into the garment.
- Use only the positions and head, neck and back support specified for the exact carrier and your child's stage of development.

3. Stay attentive and avoid overheating
- The adult must stay awake, alert and able to monitor the baby. Never sleep while wearing a baby.
- Keep the baby's head and face uncovered. Check for sweating, a hot chest or flushed skin; remove excess layers if the baby is too warm.
- Take the baby out of the garment or carrier for breast or bottle feeding. Do not attempt hands-free feeding.

4. Sleep and when to stop
This hoodie is not a baby sleep product. If your baby falls asleep in a carrier, move them as soon as possible onto their back on a firm, flat sleep surface in a suitable cot or bassinet, with no loose bedding.
Stop and take the baby out if they slump, their face becomes covered, they appear too hot or distressed, or any fabric, seam or support component shifts or fails. Seek urgent medical help if the baby has difficulty breathing or becomes unresponsive.

5. Garment care
Follow the care label supplied with your garment. Keep the zip away from skin and loose fabric when opening or closing it. Recheck the garment for wear after cleaning. Exact fiber percentages and wash settings have not yet been confirmed in the published product information.
